Neubauer Family Playground

ABF Freight delivered 700 pounds of swingset on Tuesday! This assortment of boxes and steel tubing was dumped in the backyard! Eric and his parents spent a couple of evenings working on assembling the puzzle of parts! As soon as the main frame was put up, Edee knew what it was! She immediately started screaming, "Swings! My turn!" So while the worker bees kept assembling the other sections, Miss Edee was happy as can be with Nonna pushing her in the swing!
This was the scene around 8:oo Wednesday night! It is almost complete! A few more toys and swings to hang and we will be ready for a play date! Edee was already in bed by this time. She is going to freak out when she gets home from school today!
Daddy dropped her off this morning and she immediately found her spot next to Ms. Laurie! We are so blessed that she loves her school! I really thought I would just keep her at home with the baby and I, but the time at school has been good for us all!
Mr. Reed is a growing boy! His weight today was 7 pounds 7 ounces! His nurse was impressed! He has surpassed his birth weight! His billirubin levels dropped slightly yesterday, so we are headed in the right direction! This pose looks just like Edee. She would always kick the covers off at this age and spread out!
Reed slept for 3 hour stretches last night and I feel like a new woman today! All the playing outside must have made Edee tired, too! When we put her to bed, she plopped down with her arms spread out and said, "Good night!" She slept for about 12 hours, and I didn't hear her make a peep all night!

When Edee met Reed...

Edee came to the hospital on Saturday morning to meet her new baby brother. She HATES the doctor's office, so we knew she was probably going to be unsure of the hospital. After finding a balloon, though, she was eager to see Reed. She gave him a precious kiss on the head while never letting go of the balloon!
She also loved eating ice chips out of a tiny medicine cup that she found on my bedside table. She is so silly!
Now that we are home, she seems to be taking everything in stride. Sometimes, she will kiss him on the head and other times she says, "No." If he is crying, she will run to wherever he is and say, "The baby is crying!" When the nurse from Cook's was here today, she was VERY concerned, bless her heart! I feel so fortunate right now and love watching all the interactions within our little family!

Another little glow worm!

Reed's billirubin levels were checked yesterday and were up. Our pediatrician called at 9:00 last night to let us know, and Cook Children's brought out the phototherapy blanket around midnight. We set up the air mattress in the nursery so I can easily get up in the night to feed him, change him and put him down without ever taking him off the blanket. I think Edee was on the blanket for 5-6 days, but we're hoping for a shorter time with Mr. Reed. Contrary to what it looks like in the picture, he really is not that orange. I took this one with my phone and the quality isn't great!

On the big sister front, Edee went back to school today and LOVED it! We are blessed that she is so happy there! She came home around noon and went down for a long nap. Mommy and Reed followed her lead, and we all slept until around 3:30! It was awesome!

Reed Everett

I am thrilled to announce that Reed Everett entered the world at 4:30 PM on Friday, April 23, 2010, weighing 7 lbs, 5 oz and measuring 18.5 inches! He is a precious bundle and we couldn't be more excited!! Here are Mommy and her baby boy just after delivery! Daddy taking a break from the chaos to enjoy a moment with his new son!
We were released from the hospital on Saturday evening. Reed sported the same outfit that Eric wore home from the hospital! Shortly after we arrived, Edee and Elkee came home to join in the fun! Edee is fascinated with her brother, and Elkee just pretends like this isn't happening! Typical Elkee!
We have more pictures to upload, but these were easy to retrieve from my phone! Thanks for all the prayers and love! It is busy at our house, but we are loving every minute!
Love and Baby Kisses!!

We're gonna have a baby!!!

I had my lung maturity test yesterday and the results are in! Our little boy is ready for the world! We are going to the hospital at 6:00 AM Friday morning to begin the process of welcoming Reed into the world! Eric took this picture on Tuesday and you can see that Reed is LOW!! I'm hoping for a speedy delivery! I'm also sporting a little bit of new "bling" for the big day! The stork delivered some new earrings earlier in the week! Just a little extra motivtion to get this baby here QUICKLY!!
I'll do my best to keep everyone updated ASAP!
Lots of love!!!!
Wendee, Eric, Edee Sue, Elkee, and coming soon...REED!!!

Mom's Night Out/Baby Shower

***I'm trying to catch up on posting before Reed arrives, so I'm cramming lots in today!**

Some sweet friends from my mom's group hosted a fun evening in honor of Reed! We went to my favorite Mexican restaurant, Fresco's! I SOOOO wanted one of their outstanding margaritas, but settled for an O'Doul's! Joan made fabulous cupcakes and sent home 6 or 7 with me! I ate them all week and managed to lose 3 pounds! I told her she must be on to something! Just imagine...a cupcake diet!
Two of the daddies were working out of town, so Ashlynn and Kinnick joined us. They were really good! Heather is expecting a little boy just after Reed is born, so Kinnick and Edee can swap stories about the "baby brother blues!"
I can't wait for Reed to join the group! He'll have lots of little ladies to keep up with!

Easter-Part 3: EGGS!!!

Edee had some competition once the egg hunt started! Turns out the eggs were very similar to Greta's beloved raquet balls! She couldn't wait to examine her loot!!
The neighbors had the coolest bunny and eggs! Edee was very interested in checking it all out!

The look on her face says, "Okay, Mommy and Daddy we can go now! HURRY!!"

Easter-Part 2:Getting ready to hunt!

Edee woke up to find several goodies left for her by the Easter Bunny! Daddy handed her an Elmo egg, and she managed to have it open in record time! She must have eaten 15-20 Jelly Bellies before church! After church, we went to G-Ma and PawPaw's for brunch. Edee was ready to hit the yard as soon as we arrived!
Time for a family picture! Don't know what kind of face I am making, but Eric and Edee sure look cute!
She wondered around the yard looking for eggs, but the Easter Bunny hadn't been by yet! He snuck in later while we were eating!
My precious little dolly posing with her basket! We love her to pieces!!!!

Easter-Part 1: Egg dying!

Eric was insistent that we dye eggs with Edee. I was a little worried about the mess, so he agreed that we could enjoy the fun in his shop! We assembled all the necessary materials! Edee was fascinated as Daddy dropped the eggs in the coloring! She knows she has the most magical Daddy in the whole wide world!
She used the special crayon to make designs on her egg.(I don't know why this picture is sideways!) Here is the finished product! Not bad for our first attempt, if I do say so myself!
Mommy made these two little eggs! Don't they look cozy side by side?!
On a funny note: We have been telling Edee over and over that her baby brother's name is Reed. She will even tell you, if you ask her. However, if you ask her what HER name is these days, she will say, "Reed!"

I just can't help myself!!!

I need to post pics from Easter and another baby shower, BUT these outfits are too cute to keep secret! Ashley (www.sheshemade.com) brought them to me today at school! I LOVE them!! I also ordered a gown with Reed's initials and a birthday outfit for Miss Edee! They all turned out absolutely adorable, but more pictures of those to come later! We have another visit with Dr. O tomorrow at 1:30, and then lung maturity test Wednesday at 4:00. Please say a prayer that his lungs are ready to roll! I don't think I can wait much longer to meet the newest member of our family!

Baby Stuff...

We went to the doctor today and Reed looks great! No head measurements taken today, which kept my blood pressure down! Dr. O says not to worry that Jessica, the ultrasoud tech, notoriously predicts bigger babies than actually arrive! WHEW!! He looked wonderful on the ultrasound and we even got to see a shot of him grabbing his foot with one hand! So cute!

SOOOO, the plan has a slight modification: Lung maturity test still scheduled for April 21st, but because I've already got some things happening down in the "labor department," I get to skip the cytotek AND an extra night in the hospital! HOORAY! We won't have to start the induction until the morning of April 23rd, and Baby Reed should arrive later that afternoon!

That is...IF he wants to wait that long!! Anything is possible at this point! I've got our bags packed, just in case! ;-)

A Sweet Shower

My wonderful school family honored me with a baby shower this week. The cake was precious, and everyone was beyond generous! (Did I mention that one of my co-workers, whose twins are in my class, gave me TONS of baby boy clothes?? She had a new baby boy in October and passed everything down to us! How blessed are we??)

My mom and Sue were able to come for the fun! Looks like we will have many excuses for Target trips! I have an abundance of Target gift cards now! YIPPEE! Maybe Reed won't have to sit in a pink bouncy seat after all!
This is a "new" slide that one of my co-workers gave Edee. She also happens to be our neighbor and her grandkids had outgrown it. Eric and Edee walked over and picked it up one evening and it has been a hit ever since!
OH! I also have to share some wonderful news! Across the street from Target, there has been lots of dirt being moved. A sign went up recently, and we are getting an HEB!!! I am so excited! It will be about 3 minutes from our house! I read that it will be the furthest north HEB, aside from the Central Market stores in D/FW! Eric says I was instrumental in their decision because I sent them emails asking when they would come to Burleson! I don't know if I can take any credit, but I am beyond thrilled!

We have MANY Easter pictures to share! Those will come later in the week!
XOXO!

Edee's Easter "Egg"stravaganza

Edee's class party was this week. After a good power nap at home, we headed back up to school at the end of the day to enjoy the festivities! She LOVES this mirror and bar. It is the first place she runs to each morning when I drop her off. It's like she has to check herself out before greeting the others! She was more than happy to sit down and enjoy the snacks: fruit, cookies, gummies, crackers, and Mickey Mouse shaped cheese! (Confession: I ate the cookie! She cared more about the fruit and cheese!)
Her teacher, Ms. Laurie, had bunny ears for all the kiddos. Edee is the only girl, so she had the sweetest, little pink ears!
Enjoying some crackers! I just couldn't resist adding this picture with those little chipmunk cheeks!
So, there WAS an egg hunt, but Edee's not much for quantity. She gets one and immediately has to open it and see what is inside! Naturally, the first one she opened contained a melted piece of chocolate that she squirted all over herself! We're going to try again on Sunday at G-Ma and PawPaw's!
Reed update: I had another growth scan on Friday, and the little booger is measuring big! YIKES! I am 34 weeks, but his head is closer to 40 weeks and his tummy was around 36! His weight is estimated at over 6 pounds. Dr. O was not there, so we couldn't discuss the possibility of trying the lung maturity test at 36 weeks like we did with Edee! We're still set for 37 weeks! I've been reading on the internet (against Eric's wishes), and I would like to believe the person who said that it is hard to get an accurate reading on the baby's head at this point in pregnancy since it is down so low. I'm going to keep that thought!! :-)

Edee's Flower Garden

Edee has been doing some gardening on her afternoons with G-Ma. She was staring at a painting in our bedroom one morning recently saying, "Flower Garden! Flower Garden!" SOOOO...we were at Home Depot that afternoon buying all the necessary supplies. I made a quick trip to Target to purchase the optional pink tools and water can! :-) Thanks to G-Ma, she now has pink Crocs to complete the ensemble!

She loved picking up and dumping the dirt!
Daddy did most of the work while Edee played, Elkee supervised and Mommy took the pictures!
After all the planting, Edee made sure that all the plants were well watered! She and Daddy now have a daily date at their beautiful "garden!"
We will be back at the doctor tomorrow for my standing Friday 1:30 appointment. It was two weeks ago that Reed measured over 5 pounds with a head that was measuring 35 weeks! I am just now 34 weeks, so let's hope he hasn't had any major growth spurts! Edee was only 6 pounds, 9 ounces and I was pleased with that size! ;-)
