"He'll be alot more fun when he's a brother, not a baby!"
I think we are getting close to that point! Boo-Hoo for Mommy, but lots of fun for Big Sister!
So...I know I have been HORRIBLE about blog posts lately! I'll try to do better! :-)
I haven't finished putting up the special ornaments, but she didn't seem to mind!
Edee's teacher, Ms. Danielle, looked adorable in her golfing get-up!
We have had several nights recently without Eric. He was working on an install a few nights last week and returned home late from a sales meeting Tuesday. Last night, he had a much deserved night out with some long-time friends. I took Edee to Little Gym while G-Ma stayed with Reed. By the time we got home, had dinner, took baths, etc., we were ALL pooped and missing Daddy! I found Edee entertaining Reed while I was cleaning up the bathroom. She was talking sweetly to him, and he was completely enthralled with her!!
This weather has been PERFECT for camping! We went to Cedar Hill State Park the weekend of TX/OU. It is only about 40 minutes from the house, and we had a perfect weekend! Edee loved every minute of it, and even slept in a big girl bed with no trouble whatsoever!! Here is Big E getting ready to watch the football game. Flat screen TV...check! Propane powered crock pot filled with queso...check! A cooler filled with football worthy refreshments...check!! My man knows how to "rough it!"
We had so much fun at Cedar Hill, that we went to Lake Whitney the following weekend. It was also about 40 minutes from the house. Nice!! Reed is very interested in the world these days, so we dusted off Edee's Jeep walker and he was in hog heaven! He can't move it around yet, but he seems to enjoy just sitting in it watching Edee's shenanigans!
Call me an overprotective mother, but I don't like bugs on my babies! This little net is for car seats, but I found it to be just right for the bouncy! Reed took a few naps on the picnic table in his little cocoon!
Edee was able to ride several of the toddler rides at the fair ALL BY HERSELF!! Is it just me, or does she look a teenager in this picture! (Another Boo-Hoo!) My cheeks hurt from smiling while I was watching my little angel swing around! She was having the time of her life and it sure did make this mommy's day! She loves life and all the new experiences that each day holds! As we were sitting on a ride together, she looked at me and said, "This is the best fair EVER!"
This weekend, we are going to celebrate two happy occasions! Our friends, Rob and Audrey, are tying the knot in McKinney on Saturday evening. On Sunday, I am traveling to Austin to shower Baby Girl Flynn with love and goodies! Nonna is coming in town to help with the babies, and we are looking forward to lots of fun!
She wasted no time digging in and making a huge mess!
I love that she is holding her fork, but still picking it up with her fingers! Excuse her hair, but I just tried to get it out of her face in a hurry!
Meanwhile, Reed has decided to sleep in today. He was up a few times last night but went right back to sleep after I fed him. I think he likes stretching out in his crib! On a different note, HEB is officially open in Burleson but I haven't made it yet. Eric tried to go on opening day, but you had to park across the street and take a bus! I might have to wait a few days until the hype has died down!
So, at the ripe-old-age of almost 5 months, Reed already knows how to push her buttons! He proceeds to extend his leg toward her while she tries to make her escape, screaming, "NOOOO, Brudder!"
Edee's favorite thing to do at their house is to play the drums on Rock Band. Just before we left, Aunt Terri gave Edee a pair of drumsticks that belonged to her son, Jonathon, who passed away from cancer last year when he was just seventeen. Edee was thrilled and we will treasure such a special gift!!
Edee is looking up at the Sapphire Strutters drill team in these pictures and mimicing them as they did a bleacher routine. If they shook their pom-poms, Edee shook hers. If they turned around, she did the same. If they sat down, she threw herself to the ground. It was hilarious! She was absolutely amazed!
I'm sure McKenzee was having a hard time concentrating and not watching her little protege! McKenzee looked so beautiful in her uniform. I can't believe she is almost 15!! :-(
These are the young ladies that Edee was immitating. Our precious McKenzee is on the next to the last row in the center seat, looking sheepishly at the camera. (I don't know how to make marks on the picture to point to her. Sorry!)
It was a great night, and both little ones were fantastic! We didn't get home until 10:30, which I believe might be an all-time record for latest bedtime for Edee! Needless to say, both of them were ready for a nap today. Now, we are getting ready for a visit from Uncle Jamas tomorrow. We also will get to see Poppy Wally as he makes his way home from the Oklahoma State Fair. It's going to be a fun Sunday evening at our house!
Here comes GiGi down the hill with all of our stuff!
Who invented the water noodles?? They are a genius! I think we could have all stayed out there for hours! Edee was right in the middle of the action. (She's the tiny pink hat between 2 orange, water-wing dots! She was also wearing a life jacket!)
There was also some grillin', fishin', eatin', drinkin' and exceptional hospitality involved in the afternoon. I didn't get a picture, but the Kiely's 12 year-old grandson, Alec, was with us. I think Edee has her first "crush!" She kept calling his name and saying, "Don't jump, Alec!" when he jumped from the upper deck. Once he came up from under water, she yelled, "Good splash, Alec!" It was so cute! He is a great kid, so Edee can fall in love with him in about 14 years! Just kidding!! ;-)
He is not wrapped in a pink blanket, contrary to what Daddy thinks! He looked so cold in just his diaper, so I grabbed by nursing cover out of the diaper bag. He just cooed and laughed the entire time! That is...until the nurse came in and gave him his vaccines! He HATED the liquid that he had to swallow, but he only cried for a few seconds when they gave him his shots. He also took another 2 ounces from a bottle at school today! We're celebrating the small victories!
We attended a birthday party for our friend, Mia, on Saturday. Edee was a well-mannered party guest, so she received a small surprise when we got home: an Angelina Ballerina doll! She is a big fan of the show, which unfortunately only comes on one day a week! We've recorded a few episodes on the DVR, but I'm starting to have them memorized!
My first half day was a huge success! I had a very productive morning with my students, but I sure was ready to hit the door! The babies were so happy when I arrived to pick them up, and Edee slept for almost 4 hours in her own bed at naptime! I'm hoping Reed and I can catch a little snooze tomorrow! ;-)
