Random Weekend Recap

Thursday was Picture Day at Edee's school. She didn't really want to pose for me that morning, but I got this action shot of her reading one of her favorite books. (Yes, it is upside down! She really enjoys a challenge! :-)) When I picked her up that day, her sheet said she was a little fussy. That is the first time her report said something other than GREAT! She started running a low grade fever, so she spent Friday morning with G-Ma. Looks like she just has a mild head cold. Bless her heart! The weather was BEAUTIFUL on Saturday, so Eric and his parents worked very hard on some landscaping around the building. They dug out some existing flower beds and then filled in this side with gravel. I know Eric and his dad loved going to the gravel yard! Such a guy thing!
They also worked to build the retaining walls for the ramp that will be at the back of the shop. The builder will complete it, but Eric wanted it to look nice so they stacked and leveled stones. Edee and I "supervised," but it looked like LOTS of hard work!
Next weekend is the MegaRun off-road event in Gilmer. Eric is getting the Sami ready, which includes mounting Edee's custom seat in the back. Eric will be camping out, but Edee and I prefer the accomodations provided at Nonna's house! We might make a day trip on Saturday so she can take a trail ride. I think I'll pass until after Reed is born! ;-)

The steel beams and a scissor lift were delivered on Friday afternoon. They will begin placing those tomorrow, if the rain will cooperate! Eric could not stand it, and hopped on the lift Saturday to trim a few trees! He climbed on it WITH the chainsaw running and managed to figure out how to drive the thing! Would have been a great picture if I hadn't been frozen with fear!

Next stop...The X Games!

We went outside this afternoon to enjoy the sunshine. The new concrete slab and driveway are the perfect place for Edee to practice riding her bike! She liked having Daddy help her get started!
She had a minor tumble, but she got right back up and tried again!

I just LOVE these two!!!!!

Someone from the parks deparment emailed this picture to Eric today. I can't help but grin when I look at it! Edee holding her special flower and Daddy looking like he is so happy to have her all to himself! I just want to squeeze them both! XOXO

Happy Birthday, Elmo!

On Saturday, Border's Books celebrated Elmo's birthday! Eric and Edee arrived at the store just before it opened and Edee was ready to go in! Unfortunately, I told them the wrong time for the party, so they spent an hour playing at Chick-fil-a. I don't think Edee was too upset about a little extra play time! They read books about Elmo! Edee plopped right down in front and kept saying, "Wow!"
OOPS! Elmo said, "Touch your nose!" Edee got a little confused! ;-)
After a snack of strawberry smoothies, the kids colored a picture of Elmo. Edee also won a CD of Sesame Street songs! By the time she got home and had lunch, she was asking for a nap! Thanks for a fun morning, Daddy! I sure got lots done around the house!
Sunday morning, Eric hit Wal-Mart for groceries and remembered to pick up some Legos for Edee. She saw them in a Pottery Barn catalog recently and began shouting "Legos, Legos!!" I asked her teacher if they play with them at school and she said Edee LOVES them! She gets that from her Daddy...always wanting to tinker or build something!

We have concrete!

These pictures were taken yesterday while waiting for the concrete trucks to arrive. (That didn't happen!) This is the back side of the shop looking from the yard toward the street. HOORAY! The concrete trucks arrived late this afternoon, and we were thrilled they were here after watching the weather this morning. We are expecting storms this weekend and possible snow next week. It was now or at least a week later!
Once again, our little "project" created quite a stir in our very quiet neighborhood. Our builder had to get out in the street and direct the afternoon traffic, which basically consisted of one neighbor and a school bus that tried to make their way up the hill.
The guys were here smoothing everything out until about 7:00 PM tonight. Eric and I brought out a pizza to make their work a little more enjoyable! I can't wait to see how it looks in the morning!
Edee went out for awhile today and "supervised" all of the activity. I know she would have loved to put her footprints all over the wet concrete! Let's just hope the neighborhood dogs don't find it this evening! Eric might come unglued!!

While Mommy's away...

I attended a training this evening, so Edee and Daddy were left to play at home. I can always depend on Eric to keep our routine going, but to have some fun at the same time! I arrived home to find Edee in her PJs eating dinner. What a nice treat after a long day! He sent this picture to me while I was in my class. Makes you wonder who is the silliest...Edee or Daddy?? Nothing new to report with the shop. They didn't pour the concrete today, but we are hopeful that they will get it done tomorrow before any rain arrives. When it comes to building, is anything EVER on schedule??

Garage-mahal, aka Eric's Man Cave

Work is moving along quickly on Eric's new shop! This is a look from the street after they removed a portion of the fence and cut down some trees. We now have PLENTY of firewood! This is the first Bobcat that was brought out on Tuesday. It didn't take long for this one to get stuck in the mud! They brought out another one on tank treads and it worked great until it started smoking! Fortunately, a repair crew was on site quickly to get it working again. This is probably about the time that the phone and DSL lines were accidentally cut. Thank goodness those are back up and running today!
There were 8 loads of dirt delivered during the excitement yesterday. We were quite the spectacle in our neighborhood! Our builder said people were driving by and gawking all day!

Here they are pushing the dirt into the forms. They will be out tomorrow to pour the concrete, then they will let it sit for about a week before putting up the building. They are also going to remove the lone tree that is still standing at the edge of the orange dirt. Our builder thought we would want to keep as many trees as possible, but I think we can spare 5-10 out of the 100 that remain! We are having a small pad poured for the RV right about where that tree stands, and we really want a straight shot when backing it into place.
More photos to come once the concrete is poured! I'm so excited that we will be able to move Daddy into his very own office, and Reed will have a bedroom! It is really going to be great for Eric to have a dedicated work space, as well as a spot for his hobbies! BTW...went to the doctor today and the baby is measuring right on track. He gave us a thumbs up with one hand and a Hook 'em Horns with the other! He's obviously happy about the progress around here!

My Funny Valentines!

Eric and Edee were all dressed up and ready to go to the Daddy/Daughter Valentine's Dance on Saturday night! She actually even LOOKED at the camera! She looks like a doll sitting on Daddy's knee. She kept saying, "Cheese!" It's like she knew, "This MUST be a special occasion!" Daddy sent us flowers and a balloon while he was out of town last week, and they made a very nice addition to the backdrop!
Once at the dance, Edee was presented with a corsage, and she had her picture made with Daddy. They sat down and had dinner before enjoying some dancing and games. They played the "pop the balloon game," and Eric said that she never even flinched when the balloons started popping. She's all about enjoying the festivities!
Daddy took this video just before everyone hit the dance floor. He came home and told me how much fun they had, but that chasing after her was "alot of hard work!" Edee and I are very lucky to have such a special guy in our lives! The dance was also a Mother/Son dance, but I think Reed and I will start our own tradition next year. I think it would be wonderful for this to be something that Eric and Edee will share for years to come!

Eric and I are breaking from tradition for our Valentine's Day celebration. Normally, he helps my family at the flower shop, so we get a heart shaped pizza and a sappy movie. Since no one owns a flower shop this year, we are having a lazy day and a frozen lasagna! :-) We prefer to have our dinner out when it is not quite so crowded. It looks like a night with G-Ma and PawPaw is in Edee's immediate future!
Love and Kisses to Y'all!

Playing in the snow!

We were SOOO glad that Eric arrived home safely on Friday evening! Edee was ready to get out in the snow! Saturday morning, they bundled up and headed out front with the sled. It wasn't long before they wore out a path in the yard by going back and forth! Edee loved being pulled around like the little snow queen that she is!
Her mittens made it difficult to pick up snow, so she resorted to just trying to eat it off her shoe!
Our neighbor's dog, Cheyenne, came over to visit with Edee. She was very interested in what we were up to! Meanwhile, Elkee was inside on the couch where it was nice and warm!
I'll post pictures tomorrow of Eric and Edee at the Daddy/Daughter dance. They are precious!! From the way Daddy tells it, she was the youngest one there, but was the Belle of the Ball! I can't say I'm surprised! ;-)

SNOW DAY!!!!

This was Thursday evening as the snow was tapering off. You can see the snow covering the temporary fence that the garage builder set up. It really cuts down on Elkee's patrol area! OH! This was also about the time that I got the call...NO school on Friday!! :-) You can also see Edee's poor, orange sled just waiting for Daddy! We sure do miss him! The trees are covered and beautiful! Not many cars are out and about this morning.
Edee saw her 4 wheeler in the snow this morning and said, "Vroom! Vroom!" I don't think there will be any of that until Daddy gets home!
Mom thought this little table looked like it was holding a perfectly shaped birthday cake!
Doesn't this patio furniture look inviting? HA! I don't think we'll be hanging out at this table today!
Edee has a bit of a cough, so she hasn't been outside to play in the snow yet. It also doesn't hurt that Mommy is not real graceful at this time! We are hoping that Daddy can make it home soon and help her build a snowman! Otherwise, it is a good day for PJ's! Gary just called and the power is out at their house. That gives my mom one more reason not to brave the roads and head home!
Eric and Edee have a very special date tomorrow night, the Daddy/Daughter Valentine's Dance! I can't wait to see those two all dressed up and ready to hit the town! Edee is such a lucky little lady! :-) I'll happily share my special Valentine with her!
XOXO!

Record Setting Snow!!

We are in the midst of record setting snowfall in North Texas! I woke up at 2:30 AM to let Elkee out, and the patio table already had a layer of snow. I just KNEW that school would be delayed or canceled, but I was WRONG!!! I made my way to school and this is what the playground looked like at 7:30. By the time I left at noon, the sidewalks were completely covered!! The kids and I just stared out the window watching the HUGE flakes! It was gorgeous!
The guys started clearing some trees yesterday in preparation of Eric's new "Garage-Mahal!" They were not working today, though. You can see Edee's poor little four wheeler in the yard. It might be buried before the snow stops falling!
My mom and I guestimated that by 3:00 PM we had picked up over 5 inches! Some areas near us are already reporting 7-8 inches! That is more snow than we usually get in a year, much less in one day! Mom was planning to leave today and head back to East Texas, but Mother Nature had other plans! Besides, Edee and I really like having her here while Eric is in Austin!
The front yard is covered and the roads are becoming more slushy! PLEASE let us have a delayed start tomorrow!!!!!!
Gary took this picture outside of his office in Mineola. They are getting a fair amount of snow, but it is not sticking. (You can tell who the REAL photographer is!! I just used my phone!!)
Hope y'all are safe and warm!

Our funny little gal...

Edee is an avid reader. She loves to be read to but is also happy looking through books by herself. She has a book about animals and she knows most of them. She will say, "dog, cat, fish, lizard, turtle, bunny." But, she often stops and is a confused by the guinea pig. Well, this morning Eric was reading to her and when she got to the guinea pig's picture she said, "Wonder Pet!" In case you are not familiar with Nick, Jr., the Wonder Pets (pictured above) are a group of class pets that save other small animals from various predicaments! She solved her problem of not being able to remember guinea pig, I guess!! :-)
