Random Weekend Recap

Thursday was Picture Day at Edee's school. She didn't really want to pose for me that morning, but I got this action shot of her reading one of her favorite books. (Yes, it is upside down! She really enjoys a challenge! :-)) When I picked her up that day, her sheet said she was a little fussy. That is the first time her report said something other than GREAT! She started running a low grade fever, so she spent Friday morning with G-Ma. Looks like she just has a mild head cold. Bless her heart! The weather was BEAUTIFUL on Saturday, so Eric and his parents worked very hard on some landscaping around the building. They dug out some existing flower beds and then filled in this side with gravel. I know Eric and his dad loved going to the gravel yard! Such a guy thing!
They also worked to build the retaining walls for the ramp that will be at the back of the shop. The builder will complete it, but Eric wanted it to look nice so they stacked and leveled stones. Edee and I "supervised," but it looked like LOTS of hard work!
Next weekend is the MegaRun off-road event in Gilmer. Eric is getting the Sami ready, which includes mounting Edee's custom seat in the back. Eric will be camping out, but Edee and I prefer the accomodations provided at Nonna's house! We might make a day trip on Saturday so she can take a trail ride. I think I'll pass until after Reed is born! ;-)

The steel beams and a scissor lift were delivered on Friday afternoon. They will begin placing those tomorrow, if the rain will cooperate! Eric could not stand it, and hopped on the lift Saturday to trim a few trees! He climbed on it WITH the chainsaw running and managed to figure out how to drive the thing! Would have been a great picture if I hadn't been frozen with fear!

Next stop...The X Games!

We went outside this afternoon to enjoy the sunshine. The new concrete slab and driveway are the perfect place for Edee to practice riding her bike! She liked having Daddy help her get started!
She had a minor tumble, but she got right back up and tried again!

I just LOVE these two!!!!!

Someone from the parks deparment emailed this picture to Eric today. I can't help but grin when I look at it! Edee holding her special flower and Daddy looking like he is so happy to have her all to himself! I just want to squeeze them both! XOXO

Happy Birthday, Elmo!

On Saturday, Border's Books celebrated Elmo's birthday! Eric and Edee arrived at the store just before it opened and Edee was ready to go in! Unfortunately, I told them the wrong time for the party, so they spent an hour playing at Chick-fil-a. I don't think Edee was too upset about a little extra play time! They read books about Elmo! Edee plopped right down in front and kept saying, "Wow!"
OOPS! Elmo said, "Touch your nose!" Edee got a little confused! ;-)
After a snack of strawberry smoothies, the kids colored a picture of Elmo. Edee also won a CD of Sesame Street songs! By the time she got home and had lunch, she was asking for a nap! Thanks for a fun morning, Daddy! I sure got lots done around the house!
Sunday morning, Eric hit Wal-Mart for groceries and remembered to pick up some Legos for Edee. She saw them in a Pottery Barn catalog recently and began shouting "Legos, Legos!!" I asked her teacher if they play with them at school and she said Edee LOVES them! She gets that from her Daddy...always wanting to tinker or build something!

We have concrete!

These pictures were taken yesterday while waiting for the concrete trucks to arrive. (That didn't happen!) This is the back side of the shop looking from the yard toward the street. HOORAY! The concrete trucks arrived late this afternoon, and we were thrilled they were here after watching the weather this morning. We are expecting storms this weekend and possible snow next week. It was now or at least a week later!
Once again, our little "project" created quite a stir in our very quiet neighborhood. Our builder had to get out in the street and direct the afternoon traffic, which basically consisted of one neighbor and a school bus that tried to make their way up the hill.
The guys were here smoothing everything out until about 7:00 PM tonight. Eric and I brought out a pizza to make their work a little more enjoyable! I can't wait to see how it looks in the morning!
Edee went out for awhile today and "supervised" all of the activity. I know she would have loved to put her footprints all over the wet concrete! Let's just hope the neighborhood dogs don't find it this evening! Eric might come unglued!!

While Mommy's away...

I attended a training this evening, so Edee and Daddy were left to play at home. I can always depend on Eric to keep our routine going, but to have some fun at the same time! I arrived home to find Edee in her PJs eating dinner. What a nice treat after a long day! He sent this picture to me while I was in my class. Makes you wonder who is the silliest...Edee or Daddy?? Nothing new to report with the shop. They didn't pour the concrete today, but we are hopeful that they will get it done tomorrow before any rain arrives. When it comes to building, is anything EVER on schedule??

Garage-mahal, aka Eric's Man Cave

Work is moving along quickly on Eric's new shop! This is a look from the street after they removed a portion of the fence and cut down some trees. We now have PLENTY of firewood! This is the first Bobcat that was brought out on Tuesday. It didn't take long for this one to get stuck in the mud! They brought out another one on tank treads and it worked great until it started smoking! Fortunately, a repair crew was on site quickly to get it working again. This is probably about the time that the phone and DSL lines were accidentally cut. Thank goodness those are back up and running today!
There were 8 loads of dirt delivered during the excitement yesterday. We were quite the spectacle in our neighborhood! Our builder said people were driving by and gawking all day!

Here they are pushing the dirt into the forms. They will be out tomorrow to pour the concrete, then they will let it sit for about a week before putting up the building. They are also going to remove the lone tree that is still standing at the edge of the orange dirt. Our builder thought we would want to keep as many trees as possible, but I think we can spare 5-10 out of the 100 that remain! We are having a small pad poured for the RV right about where that tree stands, and we really want a straight shot when backing it into place.
More photos to come once the concrete is poured! I'm so excited that we will be able to move Daddy into his very own office, and Reed will have a bedroom! It is really going to be great for Eric to have a dedicated work space, as well as a spot for his hobbies! BTW...went to the doctor today and the baby is measuring right on track. He gave us a thumbs up with one hand and a Hook 'em Horns with the other! He's obviously happy about the progress around here!
